I could understand why he was so as he spent his life under an extremely ambitious mother in whose eyes you could become worthy of her love only if you get the throne. Even his death was true to his character. Wang Yeo: He is the character who has the most consistent character arc. He played the game of thrones really well and if it were not a kdrama, he would've been the protagonist.īaek-Ah : He was good, kind but who in their right state of mind forgive their father's killer just because they are in love with the murderer? He was also very gentle with Myung Hee and Have Soo. Kang Ha Neul nailed the character with his restrained performance and subtle expressions. He was calculative, far-sighted and cool headed. If the question is of survival, everyone will definitely save his family over his romantic interest. For those, who say he valued power more than love, he had to save his family. Wang Wook- By far, the only character who deserved to rule Goreyo. The writers have done a terrible job with his character and Wang So would have been insufferable if it were not for Joon Gi's powerful performance. His character arc was jumpy and we didn't understand how can one become from a wolf to a puppy and even after he became the king, his actions were more psychotic than vengeful. His relationship with Hae Soo was not organic but instead was a stubborn declaration of 'She is mine.' He was neither far sighted nor as intelligent as his brothers. He never showed the qualities of a good ruler except he was an exceptional fighter. You can't justify slaughter of people just because the killer was scarred in his childhood and happens to be good looking. Wang So: No matter how much of a Lee Joon Gi fan I am and though Wang So was one of his best performances, the character of Wang So defied logic. She couldn't understand the nuances of court politics and literally could cause downfall of Wook and So if they heeded to her advice. Instead of taking matters in her own hands, she maintained her doe-eyed expression throughout the drama. She was so used to being a damsel in distress and even the moments she showed her assertiveness were forced and didn't feel natural. ![]() There was no depth in her character and I didn't know what the girl wanted. She didn't even try to see why Wang So punished her friend even after knowing her betrayal. She never tried to understand anyone except her. Also the ease with with her feelings shifted from Wang Wook to Wang So was confusing and when finally they could be together, she left Wang So. Her relationship with the eigth prince while Myung Hee was alive is questionable in itself. Hae Soo- Hae Soo is one of the most annoying characters I've seen in kdramas. It would have crashed if it were not for the OSTs and star studded cast. I think Moon Lovers is the most overrated kdrama after 2010.
